Electronic Music Supremos Set For Black Box Belfast Festival Date

Robin Rimbaud and Joel Cadbury to present a unique cinematic performance

TWO artists from the electronic music industry will perform together for an unforgettable evening of dramatic new boundary pushing music next month.

Robin Rimbaud (Scanner) and Joel Cadbury ( sOuth / UNKLE) will present a unique cinematic performance of music, moving across a vast landscape of music, using motorik rhythms, energetic pulses, abstract electronics and a melancholic richness, with guitars, vocals, electronics and percussion at the Black Box in Belfast on Friday October 23.

Presented by Artisann as part of Belfast Festival 2015, organisers are promising “a live experience that won’t be easily forgotten”.

Support on the night will be provided by DJ Stuart Watson (Documenta).

There will also be a free Artists Talk Refusing To Walk The Line by Robin Rimbaud, Joel Cadbury and arts blogger Zarina Rimbaud-Kadirbak (Dutch Girl in London) at 5pm at the venue.

About The Artists

Robin Rimbaud

Robin Rimbaud came to prominence through using found mobile phone conversations; and his fascination with trawling the hidden noise of the modern metropolis has continued to this day.

He has collaborated with artists from every imaginable genre: musicians Bryan Ferry, Radiohead and Laurie Anderson, The Royal Ballet and Merce Cunningham, Wayne McGregor and Random Dance companies.

Over twenty years Scanner has scored films, released albums ranging from ambient electronic music through to guitar focused post-punk with Colin Newman (from Wire) and toured the music of Joy Division with a full orchestra.

Joel Cadbury

Joel Cadbury’s musical roots start from his first band sOuth, signed to dance and breakbeat label Mo Wax. Since that time Joel has collaborated with artists from Beth Orton, through to being a key songwriter, producer and live guitarist for UNKLE.

Joel’s original scores include Jonathan Glazer’s cult gangster movie Sexy Beast and
Michael Winterbottom’s dark and brooding noir epic The Killer Inside Me .

Joel is currently composing the original score for the San-Francisco National Ballet, working with choreographer Wayne McGregor.

Zarina Rimbaud-Kadirbak

Zarina Rimbaud-Kadirbak was born in Amsterdam, raised first of all in Heerenveen, a town in the most northern province of the country, and finally in the medieval city of Heusden in the south of the Netherlands. She spent the largest part of her adult life in the vibrant city of Tilburg and moved to London in spring 2012.

Screen Shot 2015-09-06 at 14.35.15Zarina has worked as an editor, translator and project manager for publishing houses and a translation agency in the Netherlands. She is now a self-employed editor/writer, translator, event producer and project manager.

Her arts blog Dutch Girl in London paints a vibrant picture of the arts scene in the UK, especially focusing on graffiti art, new music and dance in London. She brings an outsiders critical view , but with a wit and flair that retains her love for the arts throughout her writing. These qualities were reflected by the fact that Zarina was a recent finalist in the UK Blog Awards.

About Artisann

ArtisAnn was established by Ann McVeigh and Ken Bartley in 2014 to bring together their various arts related projects.  They have over a decade of experience in the arts.

They have exhibited their own work at group shows in both Tate Modern and Tate Britain, the Naugton Gallery at Queen’s, the Assembly Rooms, Catalyst Arts, the RUA Summer Show and Queen Street Studios.

They have also successfully run events, from Burlesque to promoting touring acts, such as Shane McGowan and the Monochrome Set, at in the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, the Out to Lunch Festival, The Empire Music Hall, The Waterfront Hall and Queen’s University, to name but a few.
